DescriptionThis is a 1993 G.I. Joe #139 Page 1 I purchased from Nostalgic Investments. This is my first page 1 in my collection and it’s pretty good for a first try if I say so myself.Social/Sharing |

Thank you. Yes, it's Cobra Commander doing what he does best...retreating from fire fights!

Thank you very much! Yes, even though this an example of a later model 1990's Cobra Commander, it still very much evokes the first year mail away/Sunbow Cobra Commander I grew up with.

Congrats on your first "page 1" - it's definitely worthy of having the the "first" distinction! A dynamic splash for sure with LOTS of detail, and a killer shot of CC. And yes, he's running from the action :) Gottta love the vintage-y feel too with the sound effect and other lettering right there on the page!

Thanks, K! That's led me to take the plunge with this most expensive OA for me to date. It had everything I could ask for in a comic page! It has large art, memorable villains, great action, and awesome text/sound effects. I had to have it!

Maybe try offering him some batteries next time, CC? This is a fantastic splash, made all the better that they are running from a cranky Megatron. Nostalgia blast straight to the cerebral cortex! Great action title splash. You even got some Marvel onomatopoeia. Big congrats!

Thank you, J! Yup, I loved the Megatron name-drop but I am also glad they didn't include him in this splasht/title page since at this point in time he was in his G2 tank form which I am not particularly fond of. It's gun Megatron for me or nothing.

A Cobra retreat the only way the early 90s can do it! Congratulations!

Fantastic page - I love that it's the hooded version of Cobra Commander too. Can't help but think of those great figure mail aways. Congrats on an awesome pick up!

Thank you, Nathan. I fondly remember those mail aways as well. I loved mailing away for the Cobra H.I.S.S tank and the Joe Wolverine tank.
