Cla$$war 1 page 17 splash by TREVOR HAIRSINE

A great splash from a great series you may not have heard off.

Cla$$war was a great real life super-heroes comic with the necessary dash of UK irreverence by the now (and rapidly) defunct UK publisher Com X (which launched many great artists' careers). This was my introduction to Trevor Hairsine's great art who drew the first half of it followed by a second half by the also great Travel Foreman.

I basically bought this one as I own the previous page (which can be seen in this gallery) in which the hero takes off in front of the Pentagon.

I really love this sequence and I will say that even though we read many books in which the heroes or villains fly, very few artists manage to actually create the feeling that the guy on paper is truly flying. More often than not, they are just there in a flying position on the page.

I find that Trevor is one of the very few who can do it. You get that sense with the combination of the previous page and the position of the body and the incredible sense of depth within this page created by the camera angle, the rain and clouds and the crowd on the ground looking up.

Just great art form a quiet scene. The page is very large as well.

ps: I'm not 100% positive but it looks to me like Spider-Jerusalem standing in the crowd on far right.
