Description

There were a few of these for sale in the April 2021 Heritage auction, this is the one that joined my collection. I mean a great, distinctive artist and a sci-fi classic - why not?

Starts with Leto and De Vries deaths, then Baron excited to be alive and ends with Paul and Jessica in the desert - for me the clincher was it features the 2 moons of Dune from the movie poster I had back then (see additional image).

Pioneering the way for the artform to grow with sophisticated techniques and storytelling in works such as this, the time period of the eighties was fertile for the imagination of Bill Sienkiewicz to sprout in wild and unexpected ways. I first started reading comics during this time and couldn't understand why he didn't draw like the rest of the recognized greats. Once I got a sense of comics history, Sienkiewicz's place became apparently clear. He is what the industry needed and still needs.
