Description

Beautiful page (p9) from one of my favorite Don Rosa treasure hunting stories, “The Quest for Kalevala” (1999), which is based upon the finish national epos the “Kalevala”...for more information please visit Matti Eronen’s wonderful CAF gallery... :-))
This is the first of a fantastic 4-page sequence in which Scrooge is being possessed by the spirit of Väinämöinen...the way Don painted the halo around the possessed Scrooge is really magnificent!
As far as I know this is the only Don Rosa (original art) story that is not lettered in English (some stories are not lettered at all), but in finish (by the original finish letterer). As it was first published in Finland and is based upon their national Epos, this seems only fitting.

That's some nice inverse Kirby Krackle effect! I like Donald's facial expression in panel 9. I'm counting panels and see 11 gems here!

Nice to see this artwork, thanks a lot for sharing it! :-) There is so much nice Finnish wording, pretty impossible to translate all details.
