Description

Untold Tales of Spider-Man was my favorite title, when it was being published. An incredibly underrated book, that harkened back to the classic days of Stan Lee and Steve Ditko. This splash features Spidey facing off against the Sandman! This page makes the child in me very, very happy.

Pat Olliffe's pencils were perfect for these stories and Al Vey's inks made the pencils pop!

I was more upset by the cancellation of this series than I was by pretty much any other in the 1990s. Pat Olliffe did a wonderful job on this title. Great page!

At some point, the 99 cent title that told stories based in the world of Lee and Ditko was going to be way more popular and took focus away from the meandering storylines and constantly shifting creative teams of the main titles. Sad it had to end as Busiek and Olliffe did capture the spirit of the early days in every panel.
