DescriptionPerhaps my favourite of Warwick's pieces are the ones with paintings in them. They just have so much story going on. How did the sword from the painting come to be hanging above it? Who are these viewers? Why those costumes? Why was the knight in the swamp? I read the painting as the knight and horse being dragged down by the swamp-dwellers and the sword stolen. Warwick says it can also be read as them sending the knight on a quest and loading him up and sending them on their way. I like it has both possible interpretations. Well, I look forward to continuing to think of answers to all these questions as I enjoy looking at it along the way.Social/Sharing |

Yes, I have the same metaphysical questons while I am in my shirt and sweatpants seeing this piece though the frame of CAF, looking at people in costumes, who are looking at a framed picture of an old knight. But in the end, the audience wins!

So many interesting things to look at here! The details in the painting with all the various figures made me want to see this up close. So many heads and arms reaching upward. Warwick's art always has a sense of mystery or oddity to it, which I find so appealing. So good! Congrats!

Love it
Smart compositional choice of his to go light wash on the woman's skele-pants
The tunic is rendered in dark ink.
If he went dark pants the movement of the page would've been unbalanced
plus it is more interesting than just dark on dark!
