15 years later, my Zulli Grail returns home!!!
Original art depicting Salome and the beheading of John The Baptist by Michael Zulli. The illustration is rendered in mixed media on an approximate 16.25" x 5" art board. Zulli creates a lyrical image of the Biblical story, evocative of Mike Kaluta and Barry Windsor-Smith.

The closed in angle is bold but works well. The line is so delicate.

Not something I would hand above the bed though ;p

Wow... The striking POV of this piece is amazing, but the execution of the color palette - the subtlety and nuance here - shows a master at work. The background blue which darkens around the platter, the bold, deep blue of the jewelry, the soft red of the rose and deeper red of the blood... What I find most chilling is the subtle difference of skin tone between Salome and John; so incredibly well done. Powerful, moving piece, Bill! Sincere congrats on bringing it back home!
