DescriptionThe final splash page from GI Joe 279, featuring an epic YO JOE! team shot on the deck of the USS Fagg! This page has it all, including over a dozen fist pumping/cheering Joes (Yo Joe!), the USS Flagg, vehicles and planes, and Ace is in the Skystriker completing their latest mission.Lots of Joes here - how many can you name? (Left to right: Blowtorch, Law & Order, Leatherneck, Beach Head, Flint, Scarlett, Deep Six, Cutter, Lady Jaye, Stalker, Tunnel Rat, Dial Tone, and finally Cross-Country on the HAVOC and Ace in the Skystriker). Each and every character and vehicle detail is perfect! To achieve this level of detail Alex drew the art on oversized (16X21) mixed media paper with pencils and inks. GI Joe 279 is a fantastic one-and-done tale, similar to an issue of Special Missions. Both the story and art from this issue really grabbed me, especially the detailed pages from artist Alex Sanchez. Alex is a perfect artist for Joe, not only does he painstakingly draw every costume and equipment detail, but his characters also have so much personality. I enjoyed the issue and art so much that I reached out to Alex via CAF and he kindly worked with me on a couple of pages from this issue - thanks Alex! Social/Sharing |

Hama still writing these tales really brings a legitimacy to the IDW series! Even with a young gun like Sanchez, these military action mission briefs hold just as much visceral appeal as past case files.
