Vyndktvx is something new to me. Sprouse certainly gives this one a once over in his clean style. Flawless fun under the yellow sun!

I thought the issue covering M's origin was a keeper!

So they drew this page by hand, but digitally drew the image on the sheet of paper on the page? How perfectly modern. Love that. And the Mr Mxyzptlk origin story? I kind of wish they would change it every single time it's put in a comic. That feels fitting for everyone's favorite imp. That 4th panel completely tickles my fancy. Great score. Congrats!

Hi JH,
I am so grateful to have a subject expert to turn to! I ignorantly thought this was a blueline kinda thing, but since I see no sign of blueline, your hypothesis is likely the correct one. But how do you know? Pls educate me.
Also, this was the first origin story I saw -- I'd never heard of V -- are there more. I wish to know as much as I can because (as you can see from my gallery), I am a big M fan.
Many thanks!!!!

I'm certainly no expert, but I very much appreciate the kind words. :) It could be a blue line, but I didn't see any evidence of that, either, and I don't think they would draw, blueline, ink, and then do more computer digital work only filling in that one bit. (I'd hope a real expert could come along and explain if I'm wrong in my assumption.) That would be kind of redundant process, imo, for something that typically has to be done very quickly. I believe I see evidence of graphite and blue pencil peeking out from the ink here and there, too. Especially on a couple of the cheek contour lines. Blue pencil looks a bit more waxy, like a crayon. Sal Buscema used it a lot, if you want to compare to some scans of his work here.
As for the origin story, I believe they touched on it when he first appeared in the golden age, and I believe there was another series in the 90s--I'm forgetting which off the top of my head--where they also had an origin recap. I vaguely remember one in the 70s Swan run (60s, too) Sorry I can't be more helpful there. Just as a creative concept, I think he should have a different origin story every time it's mentioned. Bizarre characters come to life with odd quirks. :)
