ACTION COMICS #555

Welcome back to week four of Superman month here at Shemp's Gallery. Where we are celebrating Superman all month long.

Last week I featured an Action Comics cover with Supergirl, this week I have an Action Comics cover with Superman and Supergirl. From 1984 comes this beautiful cover by artist Eduardo Barreto. A mainstay of DC Comics, Barreto never reached superstar status but he was one of the key artists during the 80's who helped define the look and feel of the DC Universe. Eduardo Barreto was an artist's artist. He drew everything and everyone including Superman, Wonder Woman and Batman. He had a great run on the New Teen Titans and his work on the Shadow Strikes is some of the best you will ever see. His style, his storytelling and his use of lighting were second to none. Truly an underappreciated artist.

Supergirl Anniversary issue, who made her debut in Action Comics #252. Lucky to have bought this in 2018 from Barreto's family. My fourth Barreto cover, I wish I had more.
