Description
The Amalgam comics that resulted from the 1996 Marvel vs DC event produced some fun combinations, and not surprisingly, Super-Soldier is my favorite. It was a real treat to have Dave Gibbons of Watchmen fame illustrate this character for a couple of one-shot issues and this trading card. In 2002, Dave Gibbons would later write one of my fave alternate reality and in my opinion under-rated Captain America stories, the "Cap Lives" story arc in the then-regular Captain America book (with Lee Weeks on art).

Short lived, but the Amalgam comics held a special place in fans memories after Marvel vs DC shook the industry.  We haven't seen much intercompnay cross overs since.  The Gibbons Cap/Supes was the big one next to Bats/Wolvie.

Agreed! 90's comics get ragged on a lot, but there was a lot of experimentation and fun that ensued as well. Jim Balent on Dark Claw was an inspired choice. Would love to get at least the OA for the Amalgam trading card!

Thanks, Gal! I agree, and since I'm a card collector and Cap and Supes fan, I had to have it! =)
