Description
How reassuring is it to see that Prince Namor has the same relationship to Thursdays as the rest of us?

And there is just something about a Jim Cheung page, right? The composition feels just a little more precise, the pencils are just a little tighter... then anchor that with the inks of Mark Morales and you have a little slice of magical heaven. From the meticulously detailed shattering of ice to the beady eyes and elongated jaw festooned with rows of razor-sharp teeth, to the black pool of (let’s just call it) Thursday’s gaping maw (with splashes of white paint to lend extra visual texture)… Just a stunning image from a beautifully drawn series.

Deep heartfelt thanks, Bill, for letting me caretake this beauty!

Such a great splash from a fantastic mini series (that I truly loved and from which I've yet to own a page).

And yet another Bendis for you so I suspect that's writers you collect and not artists ;p

HA!  Thanks, F M - guilty as charged. :)  Yeah, the good Doctor Fantastic really clued me in to the joys of grabbing a piece with both an "x and y-axis" (if you will) of wrier and artist, and I have (oh, so subtly, right?) been sneaking those in here recently... ;)

Thanks as always, F M (and all!) for your comment!

Jim Cheung pushes all the buttons in this splash with super high detail and furious action!  The event comics he did for Marvel are the staple of that era.

I really love the Namor figure, saving Prof X? But I have to admit, as a fan of Horror, the big selling point for me is that monstrosity from 20,000 leagues under the sea! That's the beautiful stuff nightmares are made of. Great art!

A toothy horror and close escape, the stuff excitement is made of. Congrats.

Lasagna seems to work on Mondays, Namor. Have you tried that? Man, that is a lot of line-work! Cheung and Morales work well together, with all those fine lines supported by perfect inks. The heavy inked leviathan, Thursday, is a great centerpiece to anchor this great splash. Very cool piece, Jason. Congrats!

Thanks, J H.  I think as long as we steer clear of the (obvious) recommendation of fish for dinner, we'll probably make it through alright.  The fine lines and details are such a fun balance to the (also finely detailed) "black mass" of Namor, the Professor, and Thursday; I think the piece works so well because of the execution of the penciling and inking combo here.  Thanks, J H and everyone, for the comments!

OG mutant saving OG mutant, something poignant about that amidst the hypercharged action!

That Namor is so clearly Cheung, which is awesome, but whew, that monster may just steal the show! Great sense of movement and depth, and the meticulousness (with Morales assist!) is next level. Suh-weet. Congrats, Jason!
