I can see what Ferry is going for here by trying to isolate them as a pair to make them separate from the rest of the world whenever they are together. So when there is detail on them, the rest of the background is sparse. Then opposite when the setting is fully detailed.
Always loved Ferry, page design and execution are absolutely amazing. Beautiful!
