Description

Batman works his way through a foundry at Blackgate prison in this cover rough by Mike Zeck. Pretty cool how Zeck works in the Batman shadow on the machinery. Not a lot of Zeck Batman art out there so happy to add this one to my collection.

Done on thin 11X17 paper, you can see how the original markers bled through the paper on the photo of the back of the piece. Zeck didn't change much as this rough is pretty much the final, published cover.

I like the rougher look of the background and machinery as printed cover uses darker colors to disguise how sharp the published cover backgrounds are.

Zeck's Batman is one of the best and this cover is a classic. I love seeing this rough. Huge congrats!
