Batman: Legends of the Dark Knight 128 Cover

Legends of the Dark Knight #128 (April 2000) original cover painting for "The Arrow and the Bat Part 2: Safed". This 5 story arc spanning issues 127 - 131 was a rare crossover featuring Oliver Queen as Green Arrow and Bruce Wayne as the Dark Knight. Unlike the first cover, this second cover prominently features Batman in full on fight mode against Ollie (which is how this story starts). This painting (and all 5 for this story) was done by master painter Hugh Fleming. This painting is heavy on dynamics and shadows and lighting, and it is easy to get lost in brushstrokes. I particularly love the shadow of Bat's cape on the ceiling and wall behind him. Hugh is quite the perfectionist and was not happy with some minor imperfections from storage and age, so he did some minor touch ups prior to shipping it to me. The painting is signed from when he did in 1999 in the lower left corner. Accomplished in acrylics on Bainbridge Board Number 80, with dimensions of 15" wide by 22.5" high. I also was fortunate to work with a CGC facilitator so that Hugh could sign the published book and allow me to get the yellow signature series label. As of today, this is the only CGC copy period for this book, also making it the only Signature Series copy!
