Description
Breaking news.. check out the additional images for a variant cover by Eranga! Thanks so much!

Cover painting from Man's Life magazine from 1967.

Back in the 1950s and up through the 60s there were a number of "men's magazines'. Like pulp magazines before them, these were illustrated story magazines and often featured survival stories, war stories, horror and sleaze was a big part of it. I fell in love with the genre through an art book called It's a Man's World. While many of the pieces from these magazines are totally politically incorrect - they were a response to men returning home after world war 2 and later conflicts. After experiencing war, traditional stories were no longer exciting and these magazines aimed to capture the imaginations of these men.

As I still need to acquire a copy of this issue, I am not 100% sure what the story was behind this illustration but guessing a spy or adventure story of some kind.

here is a link to a site showcasing some of these magazines.

Thanks so much for looking.

She's not very good at pouring that drink, but a great cover feature!

Who really needs a "story behind this illustration" ?? This great painted image cleary shows what we all do expect from "heaven" (besides fighting and drinking ervery day along with Odin in Valhalla) !

Spy or adventure story? Pretty sure this is for a hard core XXX threesome scene. Prezio sure was an old horn dog!

Only an old horn dog would infer that. He could very well have passed out while passing their room as they undressed and they are trying to rouse him. If the drink does not do it I am sure a gun shot will, which explains the gun. Lateral thinking.

I love a girl who pours a drink down my gullet while holding a gun.  Does that make me weird?  Anyway, that's one beautiful painting.

As, from your avatar,  you appear to be a green, one eyed monster, you must be pretty weird looking! The sites full of strange looking individuals, based on their avatars, says the talking, typing, cat headed one. Look at Dukes avatar. Hes got lots to worry about too.
