Description

This commission was a crazy idea that I thought of (although apparently not very original!) and remains one of the largest pieces in my collection (so far), spanning 4 art boards. I will never be able to own the cover to X-men 1 (dare to dream) but having this stellar recreation done by the amazing Geoff Shaw of course makes that hurt less. When I proposed this idea to Felix, I wasn't sure if Geoff would go for it, but of course, he was all for it! The end product is amazing to behold - the amount of ink wash and the subtle color tints added really give the piece some texture. I opted for the full logo of course to complete that nostalgia wave from picking up that copy of X-men 1 as a kid. Thanks to Felix and Geoff for undertaking this crazy commission!

One of Geoff's best pieces! His Jim Lee influences are palpable in this masterpiece. Massive congrats!

This out of the box commission is unpacked with joy by Shaw to be done with razor sharp etchings by way of the brush! It envelops the senses with the original excitement of unwrapping the original gatefold cover that inspired this piece. Shaw reviews the tale of the tape to buffer for every zone of the piece to absorb and repell any mistakes. This piece is so powerful that it can knock out any stream of consciousness to command your attention.

There have been a few since, but at the time you commissioned this, it was the first recreation of this classic cover that I can recall. It's an obvious choice but the sheer scale of it is what probably prevented it from being done before. Luckily, we embrace a challenge;)

It turned out pretty great and at least in your case the Iceman figure is still Iceman and not Silver Surfer.
