Homer Simpson Eating Sushi - Simpsons Cel - COME ON PAL, FUGU ME!

This cel is from The Simpsons episode titled "One Fish, Two Fish, Blowfish, Blue Fish", i.e. Season 02 Episode 11, which aired January 24th, 1991. In the episode, Homer consumes a poisonous fugu fish at a sushi restaurant and is told he has less than 24 hours to live. He accepts his fate and tries to do everything on his bucket list before he dies.

"Good thing I'm open-minded. Not bad. Interesting! I'll try this little pink one here. Very good! And another one. Oh, boy! This fish is delish!"

This cel is part of a sight gag where the animators repeatedly used the same cels over and over (including this one) as an initially suspicious Homer realizes he likes sushi and pounds it as fast as humanly possible - in the show it is the same piece of sushi that reappears over and over on the plate as he eats it.

I have been interested in Simpsons cels for years but never pulled the trigger for whatever reason. I regretted it on a few occasions as a few real beauties have slipped through my fingers. The combination of sushi horking (I like a good sushi-outing), a cel easily visible with a freeze frame, and an early season episode finally pushed me over the edge... and so I have finally joined the Simpsons cel club. It is good to be here - I think I'll have a sake bomb to celebrate!
