Carl Burgos page from Cracked Magazine #4: Meet the Author: Page 1

The first page of a 2 page story I own: Meet the Author, by Carl Burgos, published in Cracked Magazine #4 (September of 1958). Both pages are missing a fair amount of paste-ups, but I treasure them, because what remains is SO beautiful! Plus, Burgos are is fairly rare.

I bought these two pages loooong ago. Found them in a literal pile of original art at a dealer's table in the early 90's. It was a "Ten dollars for any page" stack, and I (very embarrassingly) spent a long time deciding which of these two pages I wanted. I went back and forth, thinking the first page was the best, but then changing my mind, and then changing my mind again. Finally, I made my decision (I honestly can't remember which page I chose) and bought it. Then, taking a few steps away, I thought, "WTF am I doing? They're only ten dollars apiece! Get BOTH pages of the 2 page story, idiot!" So I bought the other page as well. Whew. Close call. I would have hated myself forever.
