I'm quite a fan of Neil Gaiman, and particularly enjoy his interactions with fans on twitter. Recently, a young artist replied to a Neil tweet with a short sample of their work. It was full of the most compelling skulls. I reached out to the artist and commissioned a Death piece. Some weeks later, and voilà!

I didn't see the piece until I opened the package, and I was almost physically staggered by the image and sheer amount of work that must have gone into this piece. It reminds me of the Star Wars piece I posted a few weeks ago. Here is a talented artist still refining their craft, but most importantly, isn't afraid to take risks. Isn't afraid to put the work in. The composition is bold and interesting, the line weights fantastic and crisp. The variety in the skulls and various tomb stones and grave markers is spot on, and the dark, rich, ink-heavy Universe behind her is utterly mind-boggling.

Here is Death, at the end of it all, ready to turn out the lights.

I get the tingles thinking about what Shawn might be producing in the future, and wish him (and his young family!) the very best.
