10x14.5" thick artboard has mixed media original art by prolific and renowned Spanish Marvel Comics cover artist Rafael López Espí. Cover is for the Spanish Powerman #4, which reprints US Powerman #18 and #19 (featuring Steeplejack and Cottonmouth) and was published in Spain by Mundi, Marvel Comics Group, c. 1977. Artboard has been hand-painted from edge to edge w/art showing a reinterpretation based on the US issue cover #18 by Tuska and Colletta. Art area measures 10.5x10" w/red border across top. Back of artboard has handwritten "Powerman 4" at top in black felt tip pen and three tape spots on right edge. Artboard has some minor corner tip wear but o/w art remains bright, clean and Exc. A wonderful example from the era when Espí's art dominated covers of Spanish Marvel comic books, featuring one of Marvel's most popular characters. Superb and dynamic cover art. Comes w/reading copy of the Spanish comic this cover art was created for.
