Description

The creator and artist, Frank Godwin, created and drew a number of strips over his career, notably �Connie�, which ran from 1927 to 1944 and Rusty Riley, which ran from 1948 until his death in 1959.

Rusty Riley was a bit of an adventure strip which followed the escapades of an orphan and wannabe jockey and the backroom goings on (crooks and corruption) of the racetrack. In my humble opinion, Godwin�s art often transcended the story. His use of light and shadow, the expression of his characters and the different camera angels were all ahead of their time. Rusty was running in about 150 newspapers when Godwin passed away at the age of 69.

Great face work with the innocent child like features on them. The skies and water have such balance to each other.

Amazingly beautiful. The ink lines on the water and subtle surroundings are stunning. An artist at the top of his game.
