The implied eye contact is that of a final showdown. It raises the stakes and accends in tension for a impactful feel from this classic painting that remains fondly remembered.

Without a doubt one of the best paintings that St. John ever produced, and a Burroughs cover to boot! Congratulations on such a great addition to your collection!
