DescriptionDespite all the praise lavished upon him over the last few years by several artists I greatly admire including DWJ, I hadn't been into Harren's work until I read Ultramega, which truly blew my mind. I then went back to my LCS and grabbed older books by him and discovered how great Rumble is. I then was astonished to find that some of these Rumble pages are still available on Felix's site and decided I'd better grab one before they all disappear. This page starts off with a three-legged dog and ends with the dismemberment of a key figure in the story. I just love the character design, atmospherics, textures, action, extreme close-ups, wide angle crowd scene, and storytelling in this and pretty much every other page of this series. The quirkiness of the story and unpredictability of the plot are matched by the empathy Harren clearly feels for his characters. Rumble was for me a more straightforward first read than Ultramega has been so far, but both series are complex and surprising. Thanks (again) to Felix, and thank you for taking a look! Fantastic pick-up! I love Harren's work on Rumble and well pretty much anything he's done.

A great slice of Harren artwork that speaks to his talent as a visual storyteller. The techniques used are carefully chosen for the intended effect and he is able show close and wide shots to relate the emotional scale of the story.

The last panel is when Let The Bodies Hit The Floor starts playing. SLASH! As you know, I'm right there with you on this fun series, and happy that pages are still out there. A real novelty in this market. ;) What a fantastic page, too! That closeup on the handle is just a great action lead-in choice. Very cinematic, as you say. You got a nice full-throated example of his frenetic style! Great score. Congrats!

Your Harren collection is awesome and this is another beautiful addition! I missed on the last two rounds of Ultramega pages and had the same realization that I better grab a Rumble page before they're all gone and reading your wonderful description got me pumped to go pick up another one.

The last panel shows the speed of the stroke with the arm/shoulder still suspended in mid-air post follow through. That little kaiju had it coming! Nice one!

Beautiful pick up, a a! Man, the bottom half of this page just can't be beaten in terms of impactful, beautifully textured action-storytelling. Fantastic work by Harren! Congrats!
