Fantastic RGK example! Great movement and animal anatomy in this one, and just enough background and undergrowth to ground the galloping figure
What a beautiful and well observed study! Wish I had McCorkindale's facilty with a brush
Lovely! The balance of the pose, handling of halftones and shadows, color choices, and mood are all right on
Superb! That's some top shelf lo-fi art. Love the textures, angles, and concept. Great mix of realism and graphic design. BTW, about 15 years ago, a good buddy of mine (who's also a great artist, coincidentally) came by my place with a friend of his named Peter I didn't know after they had spent the day at the demolition derby. We had a couple beers and hung out for a while, which was a lot of fun, and Peter mentioned that he played bass for the Mountain Goats, but I didn't know who they were at that time lol. Afterwards, I bought a bunch of their albums and got into their sound. So my introduction to the band was right in my living room.
Great lines in this piece!
So beautiful, and achieved with such a narrow range of values and colors. The twin trees somehow work compositionally. Jones was a magician
Super! So much heft to the figure, and I love his array of hardware. Really solid draftsmanship
Super fun! Love the colors, future tech, and how animated the characters are
Terrific! The bats, bricks, and gate are spectacular, but my impression of the piece respectfully differs from a couple of the previous commenters because I am strongly drawn to the figures. I love Rossmo's choice to make Joker white as a sheet in the shadows. It almost looks like Batman is illuminated by a shining Joker. Great poses, too. It looks like Batman pushed Joker so hard into the wall that the whole scene tilted and the bats scattered
Love it! I feel an ImAge undercurrent from the trees in particuar. Great storytelling
Jones came up with such distinctive mane shapes. The body is so solid --- the stiffness of the tail, the indications of veins and tendons on the hind leg, the texture of the fur, and the volume of the body all read perfectly with just a few quick marks on the page
Fantastic example from this landmark story! The way Munoz mixes lines and shapes is amazing; perfectly spotted blacks. So glad you perservered in your quest to land a page
Love the vibe and atmospherics in this! Great contrast between the characters, and the tree and tombstones and impossibly steep cemetary hill are terrific
Great example! The more time passes, the more I appreciate funny, well drawn newspaper comic strips
Great pages from my favorite indy book of its era. Really enjoyed this series. We need more Journey examples on CAF!
That is terrific! Neal's drawing chops were amazing his entire life
Awesome page! The poses, staging, panel-to-panel dynamics, cityscapes, and lighting are superb, as usual from Murphy. I'd love to see more Marvel takes from SGM, much as I love his DC Murphyverse
Such a memorable page. It is astounding how much story Miller fit into every page of his best works. Mazzucchelli was the perfect artist for this book
Key page from a terrific story! A harbinger of things to come from both artists
I like it! Challenging environment to paint, but Codd directs our eye to the hunter and prey despite all the shrubery etc. So glad Bill tolerates and even encourages non-comics related art on CAF!
Super page! The design and linework in this is so good, and what a memorable story
Great likenesses --- I recognized Adams immediately from the thumbnail before reading the caption
Yeah, in my lifetime there was the campy 60s TV Batman, then Neal Adams refashiined him as a serious character, then Miller made him grim & gritty, so the time is ripe for a surreal Caped Crusader. We have a Batman for all seasons and states of mind and I love every one if these takes
Here's a process video from Matt's Instagram page showing how he does this sort of thing with markers:

Love this! When I saw this in Felix's drop announcement I thought about it... The massive mits, garish colors, moody shadows, claustrophobic cityscape, alien mug, and dynamic pose are all so good
Great example from an awesome story! Bendis got me back into reading comics in the early 2000s with his realistic and compelling dialog. His art in this book is terrific; it's interesting that he chose to focus solely on writing given his art chops, but he can do no wrong in my book
These pages make me hungry. Such a strong and unusual style Rickheit has! And the subject matter isn't quickly forgotten
