Description
The Year: 1990
What's big in comics? Off his hot run on ASM, the ToddFather gets his 'own' Spidey book where he can do the hat-trick: Write, Pencil and Ink - total creative control!

The first story arc - "Torment" involves Kraven, the Lizard and of course everyone's favorite webslinger.

In this page, we have four panels:
o A tall vertical panel sets the scene - dusk in NYC
o Top right panel - Ralph Dill walking home
o Middle right panel - Ralph (who looks a lot like Twitch FWIW) hears a 'Skritch"
o Bottom right panel - We see the familiar DOOM DOOM DOOM from this issue (at this point we don't know what it is) and out of the shadows jumps a reptilian monster.

On this page we have signature McFarlane:
o City details
o Cool shadows
o Zoom in on that Lizard - those teeth and that tongue look vaguely familiar...

It would take me a lot more than 7 min shortcut to walk that route. Now if there was free coffee and jelly donuts that would be different.

I have found memories of having my copy of that issue signed by Todd and Stan at Page After Page Comics here in Las Vegas. Ahh, college days...

It's Ralph Dill's birth and death page!  McFarlane's intent might have been to give Lizard a more menacing presence in this page, but to us Ralph's life shall be remembered.

I will remember Ralph, will you remember him?
Don't let Todd's art pass you by
Weep not for the memories

So afraid to love Ralph
But more afraid to lose
Clinging to nostalgia that doesn't let me choose
Once there was a darkness
Deep and endless night
Todd gave Lizard everything he had, oh he gave Ralph's life

The love and care that Todd put into this work is evident, particularly in this first issue. This page really reminds me of the effort he put in to 'Tec 578. Congrats!

I Love Todd's art and this new series was so anticipated (as evidence by the tall stack of copies I still have) - the visuals lived up to the expectation and hype. Great page - congrats and thanks for sharing!

Major congrats my friend on picking up a page from an iconic issue with something to love in every panel. I especially love the shadow work in the walking panel.

Back alleys in 80s NYC are not for the faint of heart! Hey, you think the Lizard is bad? You should check out a NY sewer rat! Bite your face off, man. Dude, your Mcfarlane Spidey collection is legendary. I don't know if I'll ever get one for myself someday, but I really enjoy checking out yours. Another awesome score, and thanks for sharing. Big congrats!
