Description

Published in Brain Bats of Venus: The Life and Comics of Basil Wolverton v.2 (1942-1952) at page 12 (Fantagraphics 2019) by Greg Sadowski. Sadowski reprints a letter from Funnies Inc.'s editor, Ray Gill to Wolverton asking him to please submit cover sketches for him to select for the final version. Sadowski also includes 3 of the rejected prelims that Wolverton did. This is one of them.

Thrilled to own it.

A rare early example showing his skills at putting a cover together for that war time feel ahead of his success drawing Lena.
