DescriptionOne of the few legends I was still missing (aside from McFarlane, Ditko, but let's stay realistic!), was John Byrne. I got lucky, however, when roaming Ebay and seeing a specific listing that was only available when visiting Ebay in Dutch. Considering the price, I can't believe it hadn't been scooped up.The result is this page from Amazing Spider-Man, with lay-outs and pencils by John Byrne himself, and finished by Scott Hanna. It's signed by the latter twice. On the back side, there's a Marvel stamp, as well. I'm a big fan of the top panel; the half splash page, featuring Peter, MJ who's only wearing Peter's shirt, and Jill Stacy (Gwen's cousin). The rest of the page features some excellent and instantly recognizeable close-ups. But more importantly - am I a Byrne victim now? Social/Sharing |

The brick by brick construction of this piece is staggering with each layer of work requiring planning and persistence to set in the classic Byrne storytelling and the Hanna detailed enhancements. Very nice early pages from the Byrne arc from the series that did the renumbering after issue 441.

I was taken away by the faces, but you are right: those bricks deserve all the praise!

That wall with the picture frame on it... magnifique! The faces just pop off the page with the depth of those background surfaces. Not even a master like Byrne can get away from using them.

Very nice character page. I used to own the MJ half-splash from issue #1 by these two gents. Stupid bills. Anyway, nice page, thanks for sharing.

Ah.. I've had the luck of not having to go there, yet, but I dread the day. Thanks for the nice comment, Reggie!
