Description

Amazing, atmospheric, and cool as hell PI illustration for the New York Times Book Review for "Spade & Archer," by Joe Gores, a prequel to Dashiell Hammett's "The Maltese Falcon" (Feb 6, 2009). Lane's lines and ink are incredibly tight and slick, a perfectionist in line with Clowes; the piece features two hilariously tiny dots of whiteout at the corners of the bottom corners of the top windows. Oh, and this is drawn on about half of a 9 x 10". Absolutely insane.

Nice cover design for the gumshoe genre. Comics and strips in crime noir are still popular to articulate lessons about ourselves.
