DescriptionUnlikeliest of Siblings! From the awesome X-MEN UNLIMITED storyline of THEORIES OF RELATIVITY by Scott Lobdell and one of my favorite artists Richard Bennett comes this last story page presented here. This issue is in my top 10 for comics. It was in this issue that it’s revealed (what seems nowadays quite obvious) that Mystique is Nightcrawler’s biological mother. Therefore making Nightcrawler, Rogue’s foster brother and Graydon Creed his half brother. At this time, I was blown away by these amazing origin stories for two of my favorite characters told in this issue. I recall reading this issue and loving the story and art so much, it hit me on all the fronts. Rogue in perfect form and classic green and yellow 90’s costume with brown jacket and Nightcrawler in his 90’s dark blue/black and red costume. A storyline with so many family revelations and total drama of the best soap opera any X-fan would appreciate. This issue came out around March of 1994 and in August of 1996 we got see this storyline in animation action on X-MEN THE ANIMATED SERIES - BLOODLINES for all it’s fun familial relations. This page specifically features the end of the storyline when Nightcrawler calls and recognizes Rogue as his “Sister” for the first time as she flies off carrying his wounded body, the anti-mutant terrorist Graydon calling and recognizing Nightcrawler as his “Brother” and speaking about Rogue needing to attend to her “Foster Brother” apparently after their mother, Mystique, chose to sacrifice herself to “save” her children. So much mutant drama and I soaked it all in at the time, heck I still do weekly. Social/Sharing |

The moments of action and spectacle are the most exciting at the time of reading, but it seems it's the more intimate moments that stay with you for years.

Another classic storyline from the nineties! This whole mini series had some great art in it. Congrats!

A moment of acknowledgment and confirmation of the head canon we were all making. It satisfies and gratifies.

Maybe it's because the higher page count allowed the writers to add additional depth to their stories, but I remember those early issues of X-Men Unlimited containing some of the best stories of that era of the X-books. Great page!
