Right On! Fantastic artistic style! It has the great independent spirit with the different perspectives used for different elements to pull your eye to focus on each piece of this cover individually.

This issue was nominated for the Best Sinlge Issue EISNER AWARD in 1988, which was the first year of that category. There aren't a lot of collectors who can boast that they own the cover art to an Eisner Award winning issue.
I have to admit that when this was being published I was really taken aback by how different the art style was on this Grendel compared to the back-up feature in Mage, but this is an exceptional piece of artwork.

Wow, Matt- I had no idea. I appreciate you sharing that piece of history. I've been a Grendel fan for 40 years now.
And I agree, the Pander Bros art was somewhat shocking to me as a pre-teen, but instantly fell in love with it.
