DescriptionThor strikes his classic flight pose on this legendary page #1 title splash from 1970's Thor #174. Jack "the King" Kirby penciled this full page image of everyone's favorite Golden Haired Asgardian and the legendary Bill Everett provided his intricate ink work, making this a powerhouse combo that is not available to collectors often. This recently discovered piece of Marvel history used to grace the walls of Stan "The Man" Lee's personal office for over a decade. Stan gave this stunning page to a well known co-worker in the Marvel Animation Studios department where it has remained in their personal collection until now. This clean full page image was a clear favorite of Stan's and its easy to tell why. Combined with its historically significant provenance, pencils by the most celebrated artist in comic history, inks by a legend in his own right, and a full page iconic pose from one of Marvel's most collected heroes, this page is the ultimate display piece for the hardcore collector. The art has an image area of approximately 10" x 15". Debuting in the summer of 1962, Thor was one of the earliest superheroes introduced in Marvel’s Silver Age. As an incarnation of the Norse God of Thunder, he also stands out as one of the publisher’s most powerful characters. Thor was a founding member of the Avengers and he continues to be a perennial fixture in the “World’s Greatest Heroes”. Interest in Thor and the other denizens of Asgard is rising sharply with a Thor movie now filming. Coordinated with the release of the Iron Man, Captain America, and Hulk movies, this film is an important piece of the epic lead-in to an Avengers feature film in 2012. Due for a May 2011 release, Thor will feature Chris Hemsworth (Star Trek) in the title role with Hollywood heavy-weights Natalie Portman (as Jane Foster) and Anthony Hopkins (as Odin) filling out the cast. If past movie releases are any indication, Thor’s popularity among the general public is bound to sky-rocket, making the future seem very bright for quality art featuring the character. Interesting...
In what way is he causing havoc, or did I just miss the subtle nature of your comment?
Either way, thanks for the comment.

When auction houses started accepting crypto currencies, prices began the current upward trajectory.

Kirby Everett for me is the TOP
Hello Maicol,
I agree.
There is something about the posture of this soaring Thor figure that is captured only by the Kirby/Everett duo.
