Description

This exceptional 1966 Jack Kirby battle half-splash features one of the very earliest appearances of Marvel's version of the Greek god Hercules. Hercules made his second ever appearance in this issue and this is the very first page in Journey Into Mystery #124 in which he appears. The large top panel of Hercules smashing into Ares' shield with his legendary strength is classic Silver Age Kirby and this page also features the king of the Greek Gods, Zeus, in every panel.
Hercules would become a regular guest-star in Thor's title and he would soon become a member of the Avengers and later in the 1970s a member of the Champions. The character is one of the true powerhouses in the DC and his battles with Thor are legendary. Hercules even shared the cover of the very first issue of Thor's self titled series. This is an unusual opportunity to acquire one of the very first appearances of a Marvel hero from the height of the Silver Age. This art has an image area of 12” x 18”.

You know, I missed that.

This piece is large art and looks incredible in person.

I wish I owned more 'Large Art' pieces, but I am happy with the few pieces I do have.
