15x22" artboard features pen and ink original art (w/screentone accents) for page 11 (story page 9) Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars #8, published by Marvel in Dec. 1984. Art is by Mike Zeck w/inks by John Beatty. Page features seven panels, showing The Incredible Hulk smashing through wall to confront The Enchantress, who quickly places him under her thrall, causing him to collapse as Captain America arrives on the scene. Hulk appears in all but last panel. Enchantress appears in every panel. Captain America appears only in second to last panel. Top left margin has "The Secret Wars - Shhhh! It's A Secret!" title inkstamp. Top margin has inked issue/page numbers. Left/right margins have blue pencil editorial notations. Screentone accents have aged and inked portions of bkg. have faded to brown w/age. This includes portion of Captain America's shield and glass/decanter Enchantress holds. Artboard has trim along top right edge and at upper/lower right corners. Art remains clean and VF overall. Recent original art sales of pages from this historic issue have garnered much attention and saw incredible prices realized. In January of this year, two key "black costume" pages sold at auction for $3.3 million (story page 25) and $288,000 (story page 24). Those extraordinary results have elevated all original art pages from this celebrated issue to new heights.
