Description
I've always loved the Marvel corner boxes especially when they were a whole team shot instead of just heads. My favorite of all time was the X-Men corner box from there early 80's by Dave Cockrum. This corner box was only featured a few times but I probably studied it as a 10 year old more than any other Marvel image. It was a perfect representation of the super team you and I fell in love with.

Flash forward to my adult year and my hobby of collecting comic art. Since I started collecting I toyed with the idea of getting a nice commission done, maybe even a tattoo? Ok, the tattoo was a little too much but a commission was certainly within the realm of possibilities. After over a decade of though I approached Bret Blevins with the idea and he was super exited to be on board. Bret is a master illustrator and has worked on all the classic X-Books at one point so I know he would be a perfect fit. You can really see his love of the characters and the joy of drawing them come through on this piece. These were Bret's friends, my friends and probably your friends growing up and I'm happy to say hello to them every day as I pass them in my office.

If you're still open to the tattoo idea, maybe get Bi-Beast or Woodgod? Or both?

Love Bret's take on this. Great commission idea.

Awesome!  They were friends and even family to some as X-Men represented fighting for the down and out.  The minority, the outcast, etc. needed them even more during that time period.

You say hello to a piece of paper every day???? Should you not be getting treatment? I will look after your collection while you get the help you need. Lol.

You don't? My pieces of paper cost more than my kid.

Maybe not now,  but by the time they finish college.... and certainly more when the bank of Mom and Dad gets a few more requests for assistance. The art I have seen sold to pay for children going through college.

One of the better monoprints I've seen.
