DescriptionMeeting of the Pre-Cogs - it was bound to happen! From the NECROSHA event in X-Men, where the long lost X-Men return from the dead. Here we see Destiny (Irene Adler) meeting up with Blindfold (Ruth Aldine) for the first time. A telepathic link/call from Destiny that was meant fir a relative (Rogue, adopted daughter) to help her but went to an unrealized distant relative Blindfold. This ultimately led to Blindfold getting taken over by Proteus. It’s total soap-opera family drama which I absolutely love. This storyline saw a lot of old and some forgotten characters come back to life to get some more “screen-time”, and dealt with Rogue family issues (which I also love, see my UNLIMITED X-MEN #4 pages). Since they introduced BLINDFOLD in Astonishing X-Men #7 (2005), she has always been a fun complicated character that they really started playing with in X-Men Legacy (both volumes). She ultimately gets involved (love story) with another X-tremely complicated character, Legion (son of Prof X, partially raised by Moira MacTaggert). In this series we see her get possessed by Proteus (biological son of Moira MacTaggert, who she had to confine and keep secret). Again lots of complicated family drama that I love to consume in the form of comics. In this page we see Clay Mann’s beautifully rendered images of Ruth on the run and Irene finally coming into her view. The way Clay interprets both characters along with Crimelab Studios inking (Danny Miki, with Allen Martinez and Walden Wong) is truly gorgeous. I feel the intensity and action in the panels. The way Destiny comes out of the darkness as a literal and figurative character reveal to Blindfold that it’s been Destiny in contact with her this whole time. I absolutely love that last panel of Destiny, so well rendered with a glint of light on her metallic mask. The rush of action turns to a bit of calm before the upcoming storm. Social/Sharing |

Not familiar enough with the artist to recognize his signature style, but I really love his very dramatic and effective use of shadows here.

Your write ups are the best. Now I'm curious - who's Blinfold related to?

Mann did a fantastic job conveying Blindfold's struggle here. His talent is quite impressive.

A nice bit of graphic design on the page as Mann ues the shadows to bring balance and show Destiny's arrival. The last panel image with the diagonal sharp cutoff between and light and darkness symbolizes this encounter.

Some strong storytelling there, man. Love that. And yes, Mann's got some sublime lines. Those, as well as the use of shadow in those last 2 panels, definitely makes for an impactful page! Congrats!
