Update: Saturday 15th of April, I met Miguel again & we got that signature fixed! Yay!

DC-powerhouse Miguel Mendonça was one of the guests at this weekend's FACTS in Belgium. While clearly having been influenced by the classic post-Jim Lee house style at DC Comics, Miguel adds his own European spin - especially in his wash & watercolour work.

Funnily enough, I was too late to get on the commission list a few weeks before the show, BUT the reference piece I had sent him for my commission, was quite recent, it seems, and was still available. So, without obligation of buying, he brought it to the show. The price was towards my limit for this particular piece, but I'm very glad I gave it a good home, as it's exactly what I wanted from Miguel.

Now, about this Nightwing. What a great cross-pollution of American & European styles, with some great wash work - with just a few smudges of colour to make it pop even more. The upwards angle does a lot of the heavy lifting in terms of composition, but it's so effective here. When a super star like Álvaro Martínez Bueno confirms this is a masterpiece, you know it's good!

Size is 9x12. I did notice while writing this down that it's missing a signature. Luckily, I got plenty of pictures with Miguel, but I'll get that fixed next time I see him.

Great muted colors, rain effect, moon lighting, upward perspective...a killer rendition of Mr. Grayson! I gotta look into this artist. Congrats!

I can only agree, Kahlil! And Miguel is absolutely worth looking into - he's been doing some work at DC over the years, and did some Nightwing during the Rebirth era.
