Description

I hadn’t planned on posting this today but I just heard the very sad news that the X Deaths of Wolverine colorist Dijjo Lima has died aged only 34. Taken way too soon, he was already a highly regarded artist and his work across the X Deaths series with Federico Vicentini was awesome.

RIP Dijjo Lima [1988 - 2022]

---

Federico is mostly a digital artist but on request, and only if he hasn’t done the page already, he will ink his digital pencils to create a unique piece of comic art.

A few pages from this issue had already gone so I was delighted when I heard this was still available, a fantastic flashback moment to the opening scene in Powers of X #1 – see Additional Images.

Once the hero, now the villain, Moira MacTaggert is more than a little bit bitter about how things have turned out. A classic X-Men moment.

That's sad news to hear as Lima's talent was spread across many titles and his work has influenced the look and feel of many modern day classics.  From the two color scans, you can tell how he played with each color scheme when the mood of the story required it.  While many take it for granted, the descisions that are made by the colorist have a great deal to do with how the book is successful or not to make popular books that much richer of a lasting experience.

Thanks Marcus. The second scan - from one of the opening pages of Powers of X #1 (and which featured again in POX#6) - was coloured by Marte Gracia who was on colouring duty for House of X and Powers of X.  By repeating the page in X Deaths of Wolverine, it's fascianting - and incredibily rare - to see how two different comic artists and two different colourists, all highly respected and hugely talented, dealt with more or less the same page - POX line art by RB Silva and X Deaths line art by Federico Vicentini - with very different but complementary (if that's the right word)  results.

That's sad to hear about Dijjo Lima.  I liked the colors on the X Deaths of Wolverine series.

On a brighter note, this was also the one page where I broke out into laughter after seeing the bottom panel.  I loved the callback and contrast to POX #1, and this was maybe my favorite page from the miniseries.  Congrats on getting this!

Sorry to hear about Dijjo Lima. It's especially tough when people pass at such an early age. He did do beautiful work while he was here, and this is a fine example.
