DescriptionBeautifully painted cover by Rafael López Espí for the Spanish edition of SPIDER-MAN VOL.1 N°52, published by Vertice in January 1973. It is titled "The Smasher" and the content in USA corresponds to THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN VOL.1 #116 -117, THE CAT VOL.1 #4 (1st story) and THE X-MEN VOL.1 #157 (2nd story).Regardless of the artistic value it may have, for me this cover is priceless. On this day like today, two decades ago, my father bought it for me when I didn't have a penny in my pocket. I wouldn't sell it for all the gold in the world. I wouldn't even trade it for the entire CAF gallery put together. After all, the value of this hobby, even if it is expensive, lies (or should lie) in the meaning that each artwork awakens in oneself. My collection started with this cover, and although many came later, the first (time) is never forgotten. ********* Preciosa portada pintada por Rafael López Espí para la edición española de SPIDER-MAN VOL.1 N°52, publicada por Vertice en enero de 1973. Se titula "El Destrozador" y el contenido en USA corresponde a THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN VOL.1 #116 -117, THE CAT VOL.1 #4 (1ª historia) y THE X-MEN VOL.1 #157 (2ª historia). Independientemente del valor artístico que pueda tener, para mí esta portada no tiene precio. Un día como hoy, hace dos décadas, mi padre me la compró cuando no tenía ni un céntimo en el bolsillo. No la vendería ni por todo el oro del mundo. Ni siquiera lo cambiaría por toda la galería del CAF junta. Al fin y al cabo, el valor de esta afición, aunque sea cara, reside (o debería residir) en el significado que cada obra de arte despierta en uno mismo. Mi colección comenzó con esta portada, y aunque muchas vinieron después, la primera (vez) nunca se olvida. Social/Sharing |

Puede haber muchas razones por las que coleccionar, muchas,,, pero la mejor es esta. La de verdad! Nada como conservar un comic que te regalaron cuando eras pequeño. No me puedo imaginar lo que se siente por un original... Maravillosa historia Antonio.
There are so many reasons to collect, so many... but the best one is the one that comes from the heart. There is nothing comparable to have a comic that was a childhood gift... I can't imagine what can mean an original... all the best my friend.

This is very cool with the Ditko styled Spider-Man figure in an offbeat pose! It's great to see why Spider-Man is so beloved around the world.

Independientemente de la carga sentimental que tenga, que me parece muy emotiva ¡¡es una portada del volumen 1 de Spiderman!!
Esta portada es lo que yo denomino una "ladrona", porque cuando la pones junto a otras roba todo el protagonismo.

"...for me this cover is priceless." From one collector to another your words touch my heart. It's not for bragging rights, compettion or financial gain this art was obtained. It was about father and son and memories. It's a recognition of where it all began. Espi the master strikes again and NFS is understood.
