Description
"Back to the Klondike" is one of Carl Barks' most significant and beautiful stories, particularly important for its contribution to the development of Scrooge's personality, history and way of thought.
It was firstly printed in 1953 on Uncle Scrooge Four Color #456.
Sadly, at that time, the story was cut from 32 to 27 pages by the editor, because of the rough atmosphere of some scenes.
Luckly, later on, all cut art, except for a half page (most probably 4 scattered panels), was recovered.
Eventually, almost 30 years after the first publication of the story, Carl Barks designed 4 new panels to replace the previously missing ones.
Maybe in 1981 he did not remember exactly what the content of the missing panels was, probably he knew that the deleted parts were of little relevance to the story...so he decided to enrich what is one of his most important stories with something new.

Here 2 of the 4 well-known panels from 1981, a gift from the Duck Master on the special occasion of the book "Uncle Scrooge McDuck, His Life and Times" publication.

And this will be the very last published story art designed by Carl Barks.

This is a lovely acquisition! Congratulations! ;-) Like Barks said, he valued the most his comic book art (1991 interview)
