Regarding your description, not one person who ever lived, died saying whunfff!! Death may be an occurance in comics but all it takes to get better is a rewrite. I did get slightly worried when he got overheated and sort of melted or fused into lots of metal debris.

Energy lines everywhere! You can tell the Deathbird costume is a Cockrum design right away! Colossus taking the bullet with all that nice shadow behind him for his segmented body is the X-Men action art that we were craving for more than once a month.
