DescriptionA Beautiful Day for a Wedding - Til Death Do Us PartThis splashy page of Storm keeping the skies clear for what should have been a beautiful wedding FINALLY for Kitty and Colossus. So much build up for this amazing moment, but seeds of doubt creeping in from bits and pieces to make the audience guess it will they/won’t they, from Rogue and Magik’s quips. This is the start of the wedding ceremony, the literal skies may have been clear from Storm but pending thunder and heartbreak is on the horizon. Why Guggenheim, why??? Marquez’s talent for drawing women and emotional moments is spot on. He is the perfect choice for this pivotal issue. So much rawness in these characters, so many emotional beats put on paper, it’s gorgeously represented here in this page. Storm Is element in her motion and still raw in nature. Rogue (which ends up being her wedding day) is beautifully captured as she talks with Magik about the upcoming event. Magik is torn up about a recent conversation she had with her best friend about marrying her brother. Rotten seeds planted for an event that should have been about a long awaited union between these two ageless characters. It’s an emotional chapter for me, but so great that art and story can bring you there for something on the page to be so real. It’s why I really love this medium and why it keeps having me come back for more. Social/Sharing |

The middle panel is killer! That said, I rather enjoy this entire page, it's a nice composition. Congrats!

An incredibly composed and executed page, James, that reminds me of Coipel's gorgeous work. Wow - what a beauty! James S is right (as usual) with his description of that middle panel being "angelic", and I love how the reader's eye is carried gently in an "S" pattern down the page; from the gazebo in the upper right, down through the inset panel and stunning center panel, stopped and rerouted in the lower right with the character wearing black, then sent off the page by the downward glance... There's not a non-gorgeous centimeter on this page. Sincere congrats on this stunner!

Oh man, that's a GORGEOUS shot of Ororo in the middle. A whispy air, like she's just enjoying taking a moment alone in her element. Marquez absolutely draws some of the best ladies. Congrats, man!
