DescriptionFew books in the early 2000s tapped into the zeitgeist like Crossgen's Ruse. This Waid, Guice, Perkins riff on Sherlock Holmes meets the Thin Man was full of drama, genuine mystery, and just the right amount of humor.Guice really found his new style with this book. Aided by Perkins they imagined and realized a world full of voluminous clothes and venomous villains. On this page, Emma and Simon begin their investigation of a juicy murder among Britain's elite. This DPS, like most Ruse pages was in John's stellar collection for a long time. He took fantastic care of them and recently decided to share the wealth with other collectors. I couldn't have been happier that he did. I hade a HUGE Guice/Perkins sized hole in my Crossgen gallery. Bought in a July HA Wednesday auction. Social/Sharing |

Crossgen must have preferred this wider presentation to have the stories be able to cross over and stand out more easily in the TPB market.

It was really book by book whether these larger boards were used. Ruse and the Path (the Sears issues) used them a lot. I think Sigil did occassionally as well. But I'm not sure Meridian, Way of the Rat, Sojourn, or Negation used them at all.
Unfortunately, I remember complaints at the time when The Path was released in trade paper back that the binding ate up the art in the center of the page.
