DescriptionA surprise Sandman episode? Yes please! Here is Calliope just ahead of Morpheus' wake, trying to make sense of what it feels like to love a concept. I LOVE these Zulli pages - their transition to the printed version does not do the work justice at all. Wonderful details throughout, particularly in the architecture and in Titania's outfit. You know I love the tight pencils. Impeccable Klein lettering, as always. Absolutely delighted with this page. Have a great weekend! Social/Sharing |

I fell in love with Zulli's work when Puma Blues was hitting the stands. I admit that a big part of it was the strong Barry Windsor-Smith influence, though in subsequent years the BWS style slowly worked its way out of his work. It's still there, but in a far more sublte way and his work still looks great. In fact, he style and approach seem perfectly suited to the world of Sandman. Congratulations on acquiring such a lovely looking page.

Zulli's Sandman was the first comic art I purchased. The soft lines of his pencils and the sadness of each expression on the panel really brought home the mournful tones of the Wake. Congrats on this beauty.

Awesome page! Zulli was my favorite of the artists on the book.

Oh, where oh where can my Zulli be?
The art took muse to wake for Dream
He's gone to pencils, so this page so good
So this Calliope Zulli makes me leave this world
We were driven by fate in my daddy's car
We hadn't gotten any art
There at the con, straight ahead
A page that called, when Sandman was dead
I couldn't stop, I was moved to delight
I'll never forget, art found that night
The funeral pyres, the die is cast
The Endlless Dream, that I heard last
Oh, where oh where can my Zulli be?
The art took muse to wake for Dream
He's gone to pencils, so this page is so good
So this Calliope Zulli makes me leave this world
