Description

Karma disappeared at the end of issue 6, seeing and hearing things the other mutants did not. They had their theories of what happened to her after an explosion caused by Viper and the Silver Samurai, but who could've guessed that she was possessed by the Shadow King?! Shan returned a few issues back, and in 31 is revealed to be the secret villain they're after.

I set this up during CAF live last November, and hadn't heard much about it beyond chatting with Steve at SDCF earlier this year. He said he was doing his commissions in between work - always fine by me, I'd rather artists not rush. So it was an awesome surprise for this to show up yesterday! As usual, Steve did some beautiful work here - I'm always a fan of his inking choices.

Love the larger than life art and storytelling that Steve L did on Karma and Shadow King. This is a beautiful commission to commemorate his awesome work. Love what he does with Shadow King and how he gets portrayed and Karma seen in a different light.

Leialoha does an amazing job using two drawing styles to separate the foreground and background. Both are equally strong laying out some knockout effects to bring it!

Sweet image! Must look even better in person knowing it's nice and big on 11x17 board. LOVE how the Shadow King is basically exclusively rendered with hatching! Kiler stuff. Congrats!

Leialoha's skills and style have developed wonderfully over the almost 5 decades since he broke into the comics industry. This is a beautiful piece!
