DescriptionHonestly, I'll take any Spidey-related cover, Ultimate or otherwise, for cheap if I can find it! Such was the case here and from the Ultimate Spider-Man run! Might not be a Mark Bagley cover, for David Lafuente's depiction of Peter Parker getting chased by a giant robot is quite charming!Social/Sharing |

I enjoyed that short run as a comic because Lafuente added a lot of manga elements that was new to the series. Parker with that modern hairstyle made people take notice. I Just thought he worked digital because his published work had color outlines instead of black.

I always like it when Spidey is drawn with one side of his face masked and the other unmasked. It's a great visual manifestation of his spider sense ... and he really needs it right about now. Nice cover!

Awesome pick up, Simon! It surprised me when I came to the realization last year that the Lafuente run on this title was my favorite pocket of issues, even in the context of the positively BRILLIANT artists he was following (Mark Bagley? Stuart Immonen?!? Fuhgeddaboudit!!). I loved his fresh style and how it married to the subject matter so seamlessly. Perfect example here, with the killer fine details on the robot's body and gears, and the high-energy inking / light source on Peter's figure (and the ground). Thank you for posting the great scan of this piece for close study - it is awesome. Mega-congrats, Simon, on snagging a Lafuente cover from this run! Love it!

I've become more of a fan of Lafuente, and images like this are why! So dynamic, and somehow upped by the cartoony style. Congrats!!
