Geof isherwood drew this idea that I had originally envisioned for George Perez. Geof was nice enough, and very affordable. The idea was pretty much all mine. Darkseid and Brainiac had formed an alliance. Brainiac had told Darkseid about discovering certain relics of power that would allow him to rule two universes and possibly find the key to the anti life equation. So with Brainiacs aide Darkseid obtains the Cosmic cube. Darkseid then uses it and his own godly abilities (like his omega beam) to take the Titan Thanos off guard and assurp the Infinity Gauntlet. The Time lord Kang however has seen all this and alerted both the JLA and the Avengers to stop Darkseid. Now while the two teams are fighting a seemingly hopeless battle for their lives and two universes for that matter, and just when they think it can't get any worse. They discover Kang using the Zodiac Key to bring forth one of histories most powerful beings, Michael Korvac. The only being to have ever killed off the Avengers before at the very end allowing them to live. So we have three cosmic relics here: the Cosmic Cube, the Infinity Gauntlet and the Zodiak Key. I also like to think that Captain America is holding the Ultimate Nulifier. As to the art. Geof showed me the thumbnail first. It was really cool, vertical drawing, but the Gauntlet was on the wrong hand and seemed laid out better horizontally. So next came the pencils and I was really blown away. So much so that I screwed up by talking to him about a future commission that would feature Wonder Woman from the Kingdom Come series. Well when Geof went to ink it, he changed her and inked her with the loincloth, which to me really didn't fit. (He did however surprise me by adding more heroes to the mix with GL, GA and Black Panther) Anyway, in the end he used whiteout to correct Wonder Woman the best he could. The other little mistakes Darkseid's boots should have went passed the knees and Thanos was drawn with the omega effect coming from his eye instead of Darkseid. The eye effect was easily corrected in the coloring. Over the entire piece is still Awesome!
