Shalvey impressively did this cover in two styles to differentiate Deadpool from the rest of the cast. The coloring does it no favors and makes the background characters almost disappear. Always a great look with blocks of black inks to make your star pop out!

I love Declan Shalvey's workl. Love this cover to Deadpool & The Mercs For Money #1. The art is drawn on two layers: the foreground ,which features a great image of Deadpool drawns and painted in a nice ink wash, giving him real solidity and dimension. And then there's the second layer, all line artwork of a motley crew of mercenaries who are being showered with tons of cash, dropping down on them like confetti in a parade. I like the contrasting layers in black and white, but I fear the background layer is almost completely lost in the published color cover. But the black and white art is pretty cool and makes me smile.
