Yorick & Ampersand (Y: The Last Man) by Pia Guerra

My fiancée has become my partner in crime at local conventions in Belgium & beyond. She's often there - but it's almost always for me. FACTS - last Saturday 22nd of October - was different.

Since about a week ago, she started reading "Y:The Last Man", in preparation of the convention - knowing that cartoonist Pia Guerra would be visiting. She fell in love with the story and was halfway through the series after four days. She's not a comic book reader, so that's a huge compliment.

Seeing that love for the story, I asked Pia to sign my editions of the books to both myself & my fiancée. Pia loved that idea & added doodles in each book. But she was doing convention sketches, too. Easy decision.

When I first met Pia in Paris a couple of years ago, I asked for Beth, knowing that she had been drawing Yorick for a full day already. My fiancée had no such compassion, it seems, but Pia was more than happy with the request. About the piece... It's simple yet effective & iconic: Yorick & Ampersand, the faces of "Y". Size is 9x12 & this was done in pencils & inks, with some grey markers.
