I was thrilled to pick this page up recently, many thanks to the patron saint of OA collector, St. Migs.

I have a cultural and genetic relationship to the character, so her conception and whole-hearted inclusion into the Marvel Universe has been incredible to experience.

Later, I had a daughter of my own, and Kamala's existence became even more important to our family. Down the road, she's going to be shouldering a LOT of role-model responsibility. To that end, today is my daughter's first Martial Arts Tournament. She will be presenting her Shaolin Kempo form for 3 Pinan.

As a result of the tournament, I have to miss the US premier of the film Joyland, later today in LA. I have a couple tickets, if anyone is interested in them hit me up - the show is at Noon.

Some fun facts, millions of people are currently displaced in Pakistan due to catastrophic, historic flooding in the country, and the former prime minister was shot in the leg this week during an assassination attempt.

Maybe putting on a costume doesn't make you brave. Maybe it's something else.

Update - So, she placed, but it wasn’t First, so of course we threw the medal away and made her walk home. #AsianF

Nice art! Love the representation you see in Ms. Marvel. Good luck and congrats to your daughter! Wish I could go, but noon is cutting it close. Truly terrible what's happening over in Pakistan, 😢

Gorgeous page with beautiful linework. Hope your daughter finds inspiration in the shared cultural backgound. All kids need to have heroes to look up to that look like them.

Fun art style! I recently finished watching the Ms Marvel television series and absolutely loved it. My own daughter read one of the Ms Marvel (Kamala Khan) series a couple of years ago and really enjoyed it. I'll have to seek them out to read myself. Best of luck to your daughter in her tournament today!

Love the figures, faces, and lines in this page! Such a unique aesthetic for a cape book. Enjoy your domestic life as long as possible before your daughter fully masters all the submission holds etc.
